Why Does My IGET Taste Burnt and How to Fix It Aus

IGET Bar 3500 puffs disposable vape in several flavour colours standing in a row

A burnt taste means the coil is heating cotton that has no liquid in it. That is the only cause. What differs is why the cotton is dry, and four of the reasons are fixable without replacing anything.

One: the device is simply empty

This is the most common answer and the least welcome. On a sealed device there is no window to check, so the burnt taste is the fuel gauge. If you have had the device a week or more and the vapour has been thinning for a day or two, it is finished. Nothing will recover it.

The giveaway is that the burnt note arrives gradually rather than suddenly, and it never improves after resting.

Two: chain vaping

Puff after puff without a break and the wick cannot re-soak between hits. The coil stays hot, the cotton dries out and you get a scorched note even though there is plenty of liquid left.

The fix is to stop for two or three minutes. If the flavour comes back, this was the cause. Leave 20 to 30 seconds between puffs and it will not return. This is far more common on high powered devices than on the small sealed ones.

Three: the device is cold

Liquid thickens as it cools. A device that has spent the night in a car in winter or sat in a cold bag wicks slowly for the first few puffs, and if you push hard in that window you will taste it.

Warm it in a pocket for ten minutes before use. This one is entirely preventable and catches people out every winter.

Four: a new pod that was not primed

On the Bar Plus S3 pod system, a fresh pod needs a minute or two for the cotton to fully absorb liquid. Fit it, leave it standing upright, then take two gentle draws before a normal one. A hard first pull on dry cotton burns the wick permanently, and no amount of resting fixes a coil once it has scorched.

If a brand new pod tastes burnt from the very first puff and never clears, it was almost certainly burnt in that first pull.

Telling them apart quickly

Rest the device for five minutes and try again. If the flavour returns, it was chain vaping or cold. If it does not return and the device is old, it is empty. If it does not return and the pod is brand new, the coil is damaged and it needs replacing.

Avoiding it next time

Take shorter draws with a pause between them, keep the device upright so the wick stays fed, avoid leaving it in a hot car or a cold one overnight, and always prime a fresh pod before the first real puff. Sweet dessert flavours also gunk a coil faster than clean fruit or ice ones, so if you run a sweet flavour expect a slightly shorter useful life.

FAQ

Can a burnt IGET be fixed?

If the cause was chain vaping or cold, resting it for a few minutes brings the flavour back. If the coil itself has scorched, or the device is simply empty, it cannot be recovered.

Why does a brand new pod taste burnt?

Almost always because the first draw was taken before the cotton had soaked. Fit the pod, leave it upright for a minute or two, then take two gentle draws before vaping normally.

Is a burnt taste dangerous?

It is unpleasant rather than useful. Stop using a device that consistently tastes burnt, because you are heating dry cotton rather than liquid.
